The Larnaca region

The city of Larnaca is a thriving metropolis and an important tourist resort in Cyprus. With two seafront areas and stretches of golden sands – some Blue Flag – Larnaca boasts a terrific climate and plenty of sought after holiday sun.

Just ten minutes drive from our 2 bed villa for rent Cyprus, Larnaca boasts shopping, eating, nightlife, festivals and activities galore.

From watersports including windsurfing, paragliding, banana boats and diving courses (at local PADI diving centres) to simply soaking up the sun, beach life is a major draw.

Modern Larnaca is cosmopolitan and colourful, while the old town retains Cyprus of bygone days with its quirky charm and historical sites of interest.

Larnaca’s 200 berth yachting marina is one of its key attractions and it is lined by palm trees and very scenic. After dark, the marina area is certainly the place to be, with its bustling café culture, bars and nightlife.

For a lazy Sunday morning, head to Ayia Napa for its vibrant market – it’s just half an hour’s drive away. Or why not make the most to the waterpark, restaurants and renowned nightlife in this area – also famed as a clubbers’ paradise!

Alpha Divers Dive Centre

Near the famous 'Zenobia Ferry Wreck', Alpha Divers specialises in scuba diving, snorkelling and water sports, plus parasailing, waverunners, kayaking, paddleboats and aqua cycles. Fun for all ages and abilities.

Camel Park - Mazotos

Fancy a camel ride? Head for Mazotos village, just 15 minutes away from Larnaca. There’s a play area for children, swimming pool and restaurant on site too.

Ancient Kition

In the North west of Larnaca, the Ancient Kition features temples dating back to 13th century B.C. Be sure to see the Phoenician Temple of Astarte and the city walls. The ruins of the temple were built on an earlier Bronze Age temple and are dedicated to goddess Astarte.

Choirokoitia Neolithic Settlement

One of the most famous Neolithic settlements dating from 7000 B.C. declared a World Heritage Site in 1998 by UNESCO.

Grand Mosque - Djámi Kebír

Built in the 16th century and still used by Muslims today, the Grand Mosque – also known as the Djámi Kebír – is next to the Larnaca Fort.

Hala Sultan Tekke

The Hala Sultan Tekke is a beautiful mosque and home to the grave of Umm Haram, wife of Ouvadas Ibn who led the invasion on the island of Larnaca in 649 B.C. This sacred shrine is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year and is not far from Salt Lake.

Salt Lake

Nearly 80 species of migratory birds visit Salt Lake - around 10,000 flamingos in Jan-Feb and in the summer months the lake dries up leaving a thick crust of salt up to 10cm deep, hence its name. Salt was mined here commercially in the Middle Ages.

Pierides Foundation Archaeological Museum

Displaying findings and art from all over Cyprus, across the ages, this is the oldest private museum in Cyprus.

Phinikoudes beach

'Phinikoudes' means small palm tree. These were planted in 1922 and give this area its unique identity. With sun beds, umbrellas, water sports, bars, cafes and restaurants galore, life’s a beach right here.
